The European Conference on Educational
Research 2013, ECER, will take place at Bahçeşehir University in
Istanbul, from September 9 to 13th.
The Conference theme is:
Creativity and Innovation in Educational Research.
The Network 29, Research on Arts Education, encourages the submission of papers, research workshops, round tables, and symposia on this general theme.
This year, the NW29 also suggests a special focus for proposals:
Transgressing comfort
Even
if in the last few years we can find critical thinking positionings
that question the hegemonic within arts education, the major narratives
that prevail in contemporary practices perpetuate the modern myths
of the arts for the self-expression and fulfillment of the student, the
acquisition of technical skills and abilities, conducing to routinized
models. The proposal for this ECER is to give space to alternative
takings, questioning the platforms of comfort in arts education,
transgressing the limits that are made to be valid within practice and
research. We encourage researchers and phd students to engage critically
with their fields of studies andpractices,
making questionable what seems to be already an evidence. Historical
research on arts education is also welcome in order to make the present
arbitrary and contingent.
